Since its inception in the 1970’s, APCO has enjoyed continued expansion and success; largely due to bringing like-minded Retail Partners into our team who believe in, and work with, the APCO business model. We now operate 27 retail sites throughout Victoria and NSW with more on the way. With practical and highly responsive support systems in place, our future focus is on continuing to build successful retail businesses that attract the local community and continue growth within APCO’s cafe24-7 food service model. Whether a new site or an established store, owning and operating an APCO retail site can offer huge rewards for those with self-motivation, a willingness to learn and a strong desire to succeed.

The APCO retail business model has been in operation for over 55 years with proven success. Retail and hospitality is ‘hard work’ but our model makes it simpler to operate with low entry costs, low royalty fees and high return on investment. We are proud to provide our Retail Partners with comprehensive support and training from the word go to ensure your time with APCO is the most satisfying and fun way to earn a living that you’ll ever experience.

To reap the rewards as an APCO Retail Partner you must be fully prepared to put in the hard work, commit the time and energy to build and grow your retail site into a thriving business. Our most successful Retail Partners are hands-on leaders who motivate and inspire their team through their own personal customer focused approach and have the ability to quickly build and establish relationships with their customers and local communities. They have a strong business acumen and are willing to try new things to drive return on investment and create a dynamic culture within their store.

We are proud to include some personal stories from current Retail Partners in this booklet, offering a snapshot of what it means to be an APCO Retail Partner and providing a unique insight into their individual journeys.

Our History

Ron Anderson joined the Vacuum Oil Company in 1962 working as a regional representative at Seymour in Shepparton. Ron was then promoted to be the Mobil Retail Representative for the Melbourne Moonee Ponds area, and later promoted again to Head Office and was given the responsibility to open the Mobil Representative and Distribution Training Centre in Camperdown.

In 1968, Ron purchased the Mobil Distributorship in Warrnambool.

In the late 1970’s, Ron and Margaret Anderson became an Independent Distributor, and Anderson Petroleum Company (APCO) was born.

In 1980, Anderson Petroleum’s first retail site was developed and Victoria’s first APCO Easy Shop was opened.

Anderson Petroleum expanded its wholesale and retail business to Geelong in the early 1980’s with Peter Anderson joining his father and mother. More retail sites began to appear throughout Geelong and regional Victoria.

Today APCO is thriving!

We have built our success around our convenience culture whilst upholding strong and traditional customer service values. Specialising in petrol, convenience, Café 24-7 food service facilities including barista style coffee, breakfast and Fresh on the Go food; APCO currently has 27 sites throughout Victoria and NSW with more on the way.

We believe our business is only as good as our people and their ability to provide our customers with quality goods and service. All of our team members are selected based on their passion, drive and a commitment to providing excellent service and to supporting the continued growth and success of APCO.
